India’s space exploration has reached a significant milestone with the successful completion of orbits around Earth by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft. The next crucial step in the mission is the Lunar-Orbit Insertion (LOI), scheduled for August 5, 2023. During the LOI, the spacecraft will be captured by the Moon’s gravity, allowing it to enter a stable lunar orbit. This achievement follows a series of five incremental orbit raises since the mission’s launch on July 14, ensuring the spacecraft’s trajectory is on target for its lunar journey.

The most anticipated event of the Chandrayaan-3 mission is the soft landing attempt on the Moon’s surface, planned for August 23, 2023. If successful, India will become the fourth nation to achieve this feat, joining the ranks of the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.
